    The opening part is played in the first 8 to 10 moves
    Begin with a pawn in the middle
    Then get your Knights and Bishops  developed  in useful squares
    remember to castle to take your King to a safe corner
    Beginners work out the  idea behind each move you are playing
    Middlegame

    Get your rooks Connected
    . One of the strengths of castling is that it gets your rooks connected.
    Seek an Open File for the rooks
    Watch your weak squares.
    A weak square is one that can’t be easily defended from an attack. …
    Bishops have a slight edge over the knights so if you swap ensure you have a good  reason
    Pawn Structure is the key so create and Maintain one
    End game
     Create a passed pawn and queen it
    Win pawns. this is the important  in endgames
       If you are  ahead  with more pieces exchange same pieces
        Activate the King.  Your King becomes a strong fighting piece

    So what do you want to achieve playing chess?

    If you are selected for School chess team Hurray !!

    You do not need Individual lessons to gain new skills rather parental support in learning from websites / apps.

    Group Learning is better and more useful.

    You improve and hone your chess skills when you play more casual games .

    This is based on feedback from many coaches.

    The next skill set is to play for your county chess team. County teams are for under 9 and under 11 teams.

    Under 9 team has 16 squad members while under 11 has 24 . you have the semifinals 3 games held on a saturday 12 noon to 4 pm. If your county qualifies for the finals another 3 games. another Saturday of chess  !!

    So you have made it to top boards in County matches.

    Interested to go National ?

    Going further you have to play chess on many weekends. Begin with half day rapid then move on to longer time control. playing in long play events and gaining grading points. reaching 100 plus is an indication of skill among juniors.
